Operator Manual for elevator monitoring and dispatching equipment “Vezha” Print E-mail

List of terms and abbreviations used in this guide:

AWP

Automated work place

Monitoring object

Remote object, which is under the control and management system. All the necessary information from the monitoring object as the final result is transferred to an operator’s computer for analysis and performing actions with it. In this case, the objects of monitoring systems are the lift facilities of the city buildings.

BML

Lift Monitoring Unit. Is installed one–to-lift and is designed for collecting and processing information from the elevator control cabinet, as well as to control the main actuator.

BPU

Level Conversion Unit.  Works in conjunction with BML and is designed for collecting and processing information from the lift control cabinet.

Gateway

GSM / GPRS transmitter/receiver. Set one on the house. Organizes digital communication between the system server and BML devices, as well as voice communication between an operator and calling device at landings, in elevators and in lift motor rooms (MR).

Server

"VEZHA" system servers on the Internet carry digital communication between the gateways and operators’ workstations. There are two servers – the main server and the backup (emergency) server, which is engaged in work in case of the main server failure. Time failover between servers does not exceed two minutes.

Drive

Elevator winch drive.

Main actuator

The system of magnetic actuators guiding three-phase voltage supply to the elevator cabinet.

BA1 Protection

Current protection of elevator winch and elevator drive circuit.

ВА2 Protection

Current protection of lift cabin door drive.

CD

Elevator cabin doors

SD

Elevator shaft doors

MRD

Lift motor room doors

1. Main provisions

Lift facilities monitoring and dispatching system "VEZHA" (hereinafter - the system), thanks to round-the-clock GPRS connection of Internet servers with all of its remote monitoring objects, is a system operating in online-mode.

This means that any information from remote monitoring objects is transmitted for analysis to the operator's workstation with a delay of 0,5 ... 1,5 seconds from the moment of its appearance.

All monitoring and dispatching objects have the same priority, i.e. information from other objects keeps being received while an operator works with a separate object.

All the important events in the system performance are automatically recorded in the event log. Their appearance is reflected in all the summaries and is backed up by pop-ups in the lower right corner of the screen along with sound.

All new events are received simultaneously at all operators on duty’s’ WKS. Therefore, any operator can view a detailed transcript of the event and / or make a decision of taking any further action.

On the monitor of the operator, who first responded to the event (by clicking on the pop-up window or on the appropriate banner) will automatically appear the object which sent the message of this event.

Within one house all the facilities of monitoring and scheduling system work via a single gateway. The operator, who first applied to any object in the house, seizes a data channel of the Gateway. Thus this operator has a right to view information about the objects of this house and the right to manage these objects, while other operators, until the release of the Gateway, have the right only to view information.

In the process of control the system has inertia. This is due to the time of signal transmission through a mobile operator network and the time of processing and signal transmission within the system. Delay of system response to controlling signal can reach from 1 to 5 seconds.

Monitoring objects shall notify the operator about the fulfillment of his commands by changing the state of the corresponding control and indication elements on the monitor screen.

23. Button "Close" completes the elevator monitoring session. At this time the gateway data channel gets released and becomes available to other operators.

3. System Managment

An operator has at his disposal the following functions of system control:

  • main actuator remote control;
  • establishing a voice connection with the objects of monitoring and its control.

Main Actuator Control

This function is available only in power remote control mode. This mode is elected with switching the tumbler “Lift Control” into “Remote Control Mode” directly on the device situated in a lift motor room.

In order to restart or turn an elevator on / off it is necessary to press the appropriate button in the elevator control window. After pressing it the command confirmation should be awaited, which can take from 1 to 5 seconds. Confirmation of the command is changing the colour of the indicator "Main actuator status" and the arrival of a new message about the main actuator remote control.

Command "Restart" disables the elevator with its further turning on in 2 seconds. This function is used for a quick restart of the lift control cabinet.

Establishing voice connection

For the organization of voice communication with the object of monitoring, regardless of an operator’s call, the appropriate button to select the venue of the call (landing, cabin or lift motor room) is to be pressed. Time to establish a voice session can reach 10 seconds. At the time of establishing voice communication with the selected object appropriate indicators light in the elevator control window.

Speech communication control

If there is  need to switch to another location during the conversation, i.e. from the elevator cabin to the landing, an operator need only to press the appropriate button. Communication channel switching time can be up to 10 seconds.

To end the call, press the button "End Call". This action will break the current voice communication with a remote object and disable the selected communication channel. The same thing will happen in case of closing the elevator control window or moving to an object with a different address.

During the voice communication session closing all the signals about calls to an operator from the object will be reset.

It should also be remembered that due to the fact that only one gateway is set on a single house, it is possible to install a voice communication session only with one of the monitoring objects of that house at the same time.

In the process of speaking to an operator there remains a possibility of lift remote control, because the process of conversation does not exclude the possibility of parallel main actuator control.

It is important to take into account the fact that at the time of the conversation a confirmation about command fulfillment by the main actuator will not be accepted, which means there will be no visible changes in the system functioning until the end of the communication session.

4. Emergency calls

Given the fact that for whatever reason, the lack of communication on the data channel between the operator's workstations and a remote monitoring object must always be voice communication, this system has the function of emergency calls.

In the volatile memory of each gateway there is an operators’ telephone book.

In case of pressing buttons of a call to an operator from the remote object in the absence of data channel, the Gateway starts to dial alternate operators’ numbers until the establishment of voice communication. The communication channel with the place of the call is automatically established.

At the moment of registration of an incoming call from the monitoring object buttons for emergency call control appear on the screen.

To accept an incoming call and to have a conversation an operator is to click "accept the call” button.

If an operator clicks "Reject call", or takes no action in the time period set by the mobile operator, the Gateway will initiate dialing the next number from the operators’ number list.

To complete a communication session, in case of a successful conversation, make sure to click "End Call".
